As many will know, the UK continues to act as host of the COP26 summit until next October. During that time the President, Alok Sharma MP, continues to champion our commitment to tackling the Climate Crisis.
During his regular Oral Questions in Parliament, I had the chance to suggest that more focus be given to small, local energy companies which are often best placed to offer clean energy to small and medium sized businesses. I asked Mr Sharma what assessment he had made of the model.
In his response, the President outlined that the model is already in practice, and he championed a local community-financed, built and operated hydro plant near to his constituency.
I look forward to hearing more about the Government’s plan to utilise community energy companies to help local businesses transition to net zero over the coming years.
