Following my surgery at Daisy’s in the Park in Pinner this morning, I met with Ukrainians who have settled in the constituency, and their hosts.
The meeting was both fascinating and moving, and I was interested to learn about their different backgrounds and life in Ukraine, as well as their experiences in coming over and resettling in the local area. The support from residents has been fantastic and they are doing everything they can to help those who have left everything they know and love behind.
It is important to help those fleeing Ukraine to feel at home and I understand that local councils have an important role to play in offering a warm welcome. As such, I will be writing to the leaders of the council at both Hillingdon and Harrow for their assurances that the appropriate guidance is being offered.
