David Simmond CBE MP said "I am delighted by the news that children with special educational needs and disabilities in Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner will benefit from free tennis coaching thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Get Set 4 Tennis, a community tennis club at Haydon School in Northwood Hills, have been awarded £2,000 in funding from Postcode Community Trust, a grant giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
Get Set 4 Tennis launched their SEN programme in September 2018 at Pentland Field and Grangewood schools, which was met with enthusiasm from teachers and pupils. Now currently providing disability tennis coaching to five schools, the cash boost will enable Get Set 4 Tennis to offer a fully funded programme to additional schools and I am delighted that one of these is in the constituency.
Pupils will benefit from 10 weeks of free coaching, with Get Set 4 Tennis using specially adapted equipment to make sure that the activity is accessible to all the children across the schools.
The benefits of taking part in physical activities are countless; from increased levels of self-esteem, to improving concentration and performance within the classroom and developing fine motor skills.
I am once again delighted that Get Set 4 Tennis has been successful in its bid for funding from Postcode Community Trust, which will ensure that children with special educational needs and disabilities have the opportunity to take part and, most importantly, have fun while learning to play tennis."
