I was today informed by our Member of Parliament Nick Hurd MP that he will not be seeking re-selection as the Conservative candidate for Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner at the next election.
On behalf of the residents of Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner, I would like to thank him for his service and contribution to our local community over the last 14 years.
Nick has been a first rate Member of Parliament, from his work to save Mount Vernon Hospital, ongoing opposition to HS2 & Heathrow Expansion and his compassion and dedication to helping individual residents. He has shown he is one of the good guys in politics.
I’d also like to recognise Nick’s work as a Minister, under three Prime Ministers and working in five government departments. It says volumes about Nick, that in each and every role he has held he has won the respect of sector experts, community leaders and even opposition MPs and politicians.
It is important to acknowledge the contribution Nick’s staff have made to local people over many years and thank them all for their hard work.
We will now go through the process of selecting a new candidate, and I look forward to working alongside them in their efforts to become our next MP, helping to unite the country and defeat Jeremy Corbyn.
Finally, I’d like to wish Nick, Clare and his entire family all the best for the future.
