I was pleased to speak at the recent debate on the important Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill. This Bill has been covered a lot in the media, and I was glad to support two important aspects of the Bill which affect my constituents most.
The first of these issues relates to noise nuisance and the outdated Environmental Protection Act 1990, which fall short of their intended purpose. Unduly loud disturbances are a source of frustration for many of my constituents when they are prevented from going about their duties and enjoying peace and quiet.
The second measure in this Bill that I welcomed was the strengthening of existing to tackle unauthorised encampments. This is of particular interest as Hillingdon and Harrow spend thousands of pounds of taxpayer’s money cleaning up the consequences of unauthorised encampments in public spaces.
I know that these two measures, will strengthen the powers authorities have to protect the well being of communities and people across Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.
