Many of you will know that the first of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) has launched on the South Portal HS2 Site. This marks the start of the 10 mile long tunnel running under the Chilterns. On Friday (21 May) I was very grateful to meet with Rohan Perin and David Eve from HS2’s contractor, Align . Both individuals have important oversight in ensuring all works are compliant with the legal obligations they must meet.
As the works around West Ruislip progress it is useful to get an idea of what things will look like and what residents can expect as they prepare the site ahead of the TBMs launching here in a few years time.
We also went to look at the works which have now started to construct the Colne Valley Viaduct. It was useful to see this process and understand how this is going to be impacting constituents in Hillingdon as they progress over the lakes and back towards London. We also discussed again the concerns which residents have shared over the water quality and how best we can work together to try and ease these concerns. I have encouraged the team to get both residents and school groups on site as soon as possible so they can explain the specifics of these works in greater detail and help put these concerns to bed.
