It was a pleasure to visit Cedar House in Harefield to join in with the ‘Summer Celebration’ in honour of Care Home Open Week 2022.
This was a wonderful opportunity to welcome back relatives and the local community after an unprecedented and challenging couple of years for care homes, which saw visiting and access severely impacted by the pandemic.
It was great to see Cedar House decorated with bright colours and summer themed décor, and all the residents in high spirits. I was also pleased to meet with care home staff and the manager, Patience Sibanda, and we discussed what Cedar House has to offer, including their fantastic facilities, activities and services, and how they are recovering after the pandemic.
The event was also a chance to promote career opportunities that are available in Cedar House and in the sector, which will encourage greater community engagement, volunteering, support and to build connections with their local services, by considering how they can support those living and working in care communities throughout the year.
The event served as an important reminder to the local community that Cedar House are there if they need support, and from the level of attendance it is clear that the feeling is mutual.
