The London in Bloom competition again saw local open spaces gain awards. Eastcote House Gardens (EHG) won four Golds (or equivalent) and was category winner in Park of the Year (5–10 acres) meaning it was judged the best medium size park in all Greater London!
Highgrove Woods gained Silver Gilt, Pinn Meadows, two Silver Gilts and a silver, and Long Meadow won a Gold. Warmest congratulations to all the volunteers, and especially to the Friends of Eastcote House Gardens (FOEHG) and their leader Lesley Crowcroft, who is pictured above left at the EHG Summer Picnic, between Cllrs Becky Haggar and Catherine Dann. Many thanks also to the Council’s Green Spaces Team.
Further, in July, Long Meadow gained its first Green Flag award, helping to bring the total for the London Borough of Hillingdon up to 47 (from 42 last year) which makes ours the local authority with the highest number of top-quality parks and green spaces in the UK for the fifth year running.
