I was pleased to chair the APPG on Housing and Planning this morning, bringing together sector experts to look at how we can improve housing options for older people in the planning system.

I have for a long time thought that we need to be paying greater attention at the housing provision for older people. We can see examples of success stories where this has be done well and it simultaneously provide excellent housing for older generations within the existing community, as well as freeing up existing housing supply.

This is a model which is well established in other countries and as we see increasing reforms to leaseholds, this is something we should be developing further. This is a discussion i am keen to continue and ensure we have a consistent message from industry.
